Bam was sick yet again, and he was putting everyone in the house through hell. On most days the skater was the center of attention without even trying, but for the past week he had demanded the complete attention of everyone.

“I NEED MY PILLOW FLUFFED!”

April instantly ran into the room to fix Bam’s pillow with a haggard, slightly annoyed look on her face. It was her baby so she would do anything for him, but this was becoming ridiculous. Phil and most of the boys had taken to staying out of the house or locking themselves in their rooms.

“MOM, WHERE’S MY SOUP!”

Ryan was almost knocked over by a running mother when he tried to get into the kitchen. Groaning in annoyance Ryan poured himself a cup of coffee and took a sip. April came running back into the room grabbing the crackers her son had requested. She returned after a minute sitting back down at the kitchen island waiting for Bam’s next demand.

“Ape, go get some sleep. I’ll take care of him.”

“I couldn’t do that to you, Ryan. I can handle it.”

“April, go.”

She looked at him for a moment studying his face then took off for her bedroom.

“MOM! I CAN’T REACH THE REMOTE!”

Bam continued to shout directions to hurry, but Ryan took his time walking in and sitting on the coffee table.

“Took you fucking long enough! Hand me the remote.”

“Excuse me?”

The brunette turned surprised to see it wasn’t his mother standing behind him.

“Just give me the fucking remote, Random! And tell April the soup is too hot.”

“No.”

“What? I’m sick! You have to do what I say!”

“I don’t give a fuck. I’m sick of your behavior! You’ve been treating everyone like shit since you got the sniffles. If you can scream than you can reach the fucking remote!”

Bam’s bright blue eyes went wide as he stared at his best friend. To say the least Bam was not used to this sort of treatment especially when he was sick. He had no idea how to respond.

“You’re acting like a 5-year-old, Bam. Honestly, Ape looks like she got hit by a car, and everyone else is avoiding the house at all possible moments! You’re acting like a spoiled bitchy brat and I’ve had it up to here!”

Ryan raised his hand high above his head to emphasize his point; anger burning through his every pore. Bam actually sunk down on the couch a bit. For a moment Bam felt like a child being scolded by his mother. Ryan sighed softly running his fingers through Bam’s dark curls.

“From now on you call for me if you really need something and ONLY if you need something. No more calling for Ape. She needs some sleep. Okay?”

Bam nodded for a moment before curling into a tight ball as he fought the tears. Sighing softly Ryan took his best friend into his arms for a gentle hug. The little brunette felt tears start to fall into Ryan’s favorite blue shirt. For the first time in a very long time Bam actually felt sincerely bad for his behavior.

“W-would you just get me a glass of water, Ry?”

“Of course.”

Ryan stood up walking into the kitchen filling up a glass. Bam’s throat wasn’t really too dry, but he needed alone time for a moment. Feelings were starting to boil inside that Bam hadn’t felt for years. He had loved Ryan once, they had shared something, but Bam had screwed it up more than once. Ryan sat back down on the coffee table handing Bam the water.

“Ryan just one more favor.”

“What do you need, BamBam?”

“Kiss me?”

“What?”

“Please kiss me, Ryan?”

“You’re sick, fruitloop! I don’t want to get sick too!”

Bam laughed, but grabbed his best friend pulling their mouths together for a brief moment. Ryan winced when their lips met trying to reign in his strong emotions. The kiss only lasted for a moment but both men felt like the connection lasted for hours.

“We can’t do this again, Bam. We’ve been down this road before.”

Bam sighed softly holding his best friend’s hand preventing the older man from pulling away.

“Can’t we just try?”

“Why? Why should we bother?”

Ryan was becoming more and more agitated as his brain fought mercilessly with his heart.

“Because I love you, Ryan. And because you’re so different from everyone else! You make me feel like no one else ever has. You told me when we were in fucking high school that we belonged together! You used to tell me that every single night for ten years! I was stupid! Please just give me one more chance, Ry.”

A heavy sigh escaped the older man’s lips. For the first time in long time Ryan knew that Bam’s apology actually meant something.

“I love you too, BamBam. I love you so much and I always have.”

Bam’s nose found its way into the crook of Ryan’s neck inhaling the familiar scent deeply.

“Is that a yes?”

Ryan knew he would probably live to regret this decision, but he turned his face to kiss the top of his boyfriend’s head.

“Yes, baby.”
